BARCELONA FACE MADRID THREAT FOR GERMAN PRODIGY

The race to sign highly rated Red Bull Salzburg attacker Karim Adeyemi is becoming more exciting by the day with five-time European champions Barcelona and other big teams keen to sign the German prodigy.

Barcelona are known admirers of the. 19-year-old German international and theyhave a new competitor for the player following the report from Catalan newspaper SPORT. It was revealed that Real Madrid are the new competitor in the race to sign Adeyemi.

Adeyemi has had a memorable year till date, winning the European Under-21 Championshipwith Germany earlier this year and also scoring on his debut for the senior team. He has also been in unstoppable form for Salzburg netting 15 goals and two assists in 25 games in all competitions.

Barcelona have been on the trail of the young German striker for some time and previous reports stated that the Catalans are ready to offer €40m for the player. However, they will need to fend off arch rivals Real Madrid who see the young attacker as an alternative for Borussia Dortmund hitman ErlingHaaland.

Real Madrid will most likely be priced out of a move for Haaland next summer with the total package for the Norwegian striker likely to exceed the €200m mark.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are not the only ones monitoring Adeyemi and the situation surrounding his next destination. The player has already indicated that he wants to leave Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg at the end of this season. Apart from the Spanish La Liga duo of Real Madrid and Barcelona, other big European teams such as Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Paris Saint Germain (PSG), Atletico Madrid and Liverpool.

Initially, Adeyemi was rated €20m, however, his value has gone up in recent weeks on the back of Dortmund having a €35m offer rejected for him. It might take at least €50m to sign the Salzburg attacker.
