Colombian legend warns Yerry Mina against Everton move

Colombian legend Carlos Valderrama has warned Yerry Mina from making the move to the Premier League with Everton. The Barcelona centre-back has been widely tipped to pursue a fresh challenge during the ongoing transfer window with Marco Silva’s side deemed as favourites to sign the former Palmeiras man.

Speaking to Radio Caracol, Valderrama has raised concerns over the potential move and believes Mina would better off joining Galatasaray than Everton with the promise of Champions League football, he said: “The Premier League is attractive but for me the Champions League is the most prestigious. I don’t think Yerry should join a mid-table team like Everton. Fatih Terim has a great record of developing players. If it were me, I would pick Galatasaray.”

Mina joined Barcelona from Palmeiras during the 2018 winter transfer window but he could not much of an impression on the starting line-up with just six appearances across all competitions. Despite this, he went on to impress for Colombia at the World Cup where he bagged three-headed goals and he is now being associated with a potential Barcelona exit after they acquired the services of Clement Lenglet from Sevilla.

As things stand, Mina’s agent has personally rubbished claims of Everton agreeing a move for the centre-back but this could change in the coming weeks with Mina keen to resolve his future before the start of the season. Meanwhile, Everton are yet to make a signing during the ongoing transfer window and their wait could soon finish with Marco Silva promising new recruits.

Unlike last season, the Merseyside outfit have decided to not rush through their signings but they still find themselves in a tricky position with just over three weeks left for the Premier League transfer window to conclude. Wayne Rooney, Joel Robles, and Ramiro Funes Mori have been among the high-profile players who have parted ways with the Toffees this summer.
