Gerard’s Deulofeu’s agent unhappy with Barcelona link

Gerard Deulofeu’s representative Gines Carvajal is concerned by the ongoing interest from Barcelona as it could potentially harm his client’s chances of making the Spain World Cup squad.

The Everton winger failed to make himself a regular under Ronald Koeman in the first half of the previous campaign, and he was therein allowed to join AC Milan on a short-term loan to gain valuable first-team experience. At San Siro, the former La Masia graduate managed to make a huge impression with four goals in the Serie A, and this earned him a recall to the Spain squad after a three-year wait.

Deulofeu is due to be sold on his return to Goodison this summer, but Barcelona have the first refusal on his contract, meaning that they could re-sign him for a £10.2m fee during the upcoming transfer window. However, the clause is said to have some complications as Barcelona cannot loan or sell the player outright, and he will have to stick with the first-team for at least one season. New Barca boss Ernesto Valverde is a huge admirer of Deulofeu, but his agent is nevertheless angry over the ongoing interest as it could diminish his client’s World Cup hopes. Continue reading

Pep Guardiola wont return to Barcelona

Pep Guardiola, who is presently the manager of the Bundesliga outfit Bayern Munich, has made it clear that there is no possibility of him returning to Barcelona as manager.

The 43-year old did say that he would like to make his way back to Catalonia in future, but, only to live there.

No other manager has achieved as much as success at Barcelona as Guardiola did. He remained there for 4 seasons and the Catalans just kept bagging one trophy after the other under him.

Since the time Guardiola resigned, three people have taken over as the head coach of Barcelona and neither of them has proved to be that effective.

The man who is in charge at Barcelona at this point of time is Luis Enrique who has already lost the first El Clasico of the 2014-15 Season.

Moreover, Barcelona has recently been replaced by Real Madrid at the no. 1 position in the Liga table.

So, Enrique is also having a bit of a hard time which has resulted in many fans urging the club owners to try and lure Guardiola back.

When Guardiola was asked yesterday if he would take the offer of Barcelona if they come with one, he said, “No, I won’t. My tenure at Barca is done and dusted. Obviously, I would return to that place one day. That’s my motherland and my family is there. But, I would be there only to live and not for the coaching purpose.”

During Guardiola’s time at Camp Nou, Barcelona totally dominated Real Madrid, defeating them in 6 out of the 8 El Clasicos.

A couple of games Barcelona won by margins of 6-2 and 5-0, these numbers themselves tell how dominant they were.

Guardiola lost only one El Clasico. That was in April 2012.

GUARDIOLA RETURNS

The former Barcelona manager Guardiola recently announced that he will be returning from his year-long sabbatical as the manager of Bayern Munich. The German club have been successful in their attempts to pursue one of the most successful managers in world football over the last four years. His former assistant manager at Barcelona – Tito Vilanova, who is currently in charge of the Spanish club now, has said that he is extremely delighted that Guardiola is back in football management once again. The former Barcelona manager not only made Barcelona successful, but by playing an attractive style of football.

He will be taking over from the current manager Jupp Heynckes at the end of the season. Vilanova has said that he is even though he is delighted at the return of Guardiola, he did not know prior to the announcement where he would be heading. Vilanova worked under Guardiola for four years as the assistant manager at Barcelona. He has since taken over the full-time management role at the club, and he has been responsible for the best start made by any Spanish club to a league season. The club has managed to drop just two points in the first half of the season before finally suffering the first defeat against Real Sociedad.

“I didn’t know where he was going, I didn’t know anything. I suppose he couldn’t say. I’m very happy that he’s returning to football and to one of Europe’s great clubs. I don’t know what possible teams he could have gone to, nor the kinds of contracts he was offered but I’m sure they were all of the top level. He had time to choose and would have thought it all over very well. What’s clear is that he couldn’t go wrong because they were all top teams,” said Vilanova.

GUARDIOLA SPECULATION

The future of Barcelona manager Guardiola has come under intense speculation of late. Guardiola’s current contract runs out at the end of the season and he is yet to sign a new contract. This has led to speculation that Pep Guardiola’s time at the Camp Nou has finally come to an end. However, the man who appointed Guardiola in the first place – Former Barcelona president Laporta – has said that the club should allow the two-time Champions League winning manager more time in order to decide on his future. There have been reports that Guardiola is looking for a new challenge after achieving almost everything with Barcelona in the last three years.

Guardiola took over at Barcelona in a difficult time during the history of the club. They were just coming out from the management of Frank Rijkaard, with many players like Ronaldinho at the decline. Real Madrid were top of the Spanish league once again, and Guardiola was handed the difficulties of managing players like Lionel Messi and Xavi. He has more than achieved everything with the club in the three years, which has included three consecutive league titles and two Champions League medals. Guardiola is thought to have made England his top priority when it comes to the next job.

“He’s giving it all as a coach and he will a thoughtful and reasoned decision – and it shall be respected by the club. He always said he would renew every year and he has every right to take time to think before making an important decision. I understand this period of reflection. Guardiola is sufficiently mature and intelligent [to do this],” Laporta told reporters on Tuesday. Whatever happens, Laporta has said that Guardiola will forever be remembered as one of the greatest managers for Barcelona.
