Richarlison responds to Barcelona transfer speculation

Everton star Richarlison has indicated that there has been no concrete interest from Barcelona despite the speculation in the media. The Brazil international has been a regular in the Toffees attack since his move from Watford in 2018 and he has already contributed 26 goals in all competitions for the club.

Amidst this, the Blaugrana have been credited with an interest in signing him but Richarlison has stressed that he does not prefer to ponder over the speculation. He added that he is ‘very happy’ at Goodison Park but would one day prefer to join a great club such as Barcelona, he told: “I heard from the press, I don’t know if there was anything concrete.

“I try not to get involved in these things when I’m playing so I don’t lose focus. I leave it to my agent and the club to decide when something like this comes up. I’m very happy here at Everton and, if one day I leave, I hope it will be for another great club, such as Barcelona. But my head is totally focused on Everton.”

Richarlison has contributed 12 goals and four assists for the Toffees this term and the contribution has been only bettered by Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has registered 15 goals and one assist. The duo have been influential towards the club’s progress under Carlo Ancelotti and the hierarchy will be determined to keep hold of their services beyond the summer.

The Merseyside outfit recently suffered a 4-0 league drubbing at the hands of Chelsea on the road and that has dropped them to 12th in the standings. Still, they are only six points within a potential Europa League spot and they could make ground during the final nine games, provided the season resumes after the suspension due to the COVID-19 virus pandemic.
