Spanish giants Barcelona have reportedly created a 5-man shortlist containing strikers that they are interested in signing ahead of the summer transfer window opening at the tail-end of the season, according to reports. That list contains Manchester City’s long-serving and legendary striker Sergio Agüero.
Rumors have been circulating since last summer that Agüero will be leaving City at the end of this season, but according to those reports, he is yet to decide on which club he will be moving to. His fellow striker at City Gabriel Jesus has been preferred over him recently by Guardiola and it is now more difficult for the Argentine striker to reclaim his spot in the City team.
The Daily Mail recently released a report that Agüero is part of the five strikers that Barcelona are targeting, including Inter Milan duo Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku, Lyon’s Memphis Depay, and Borussia Dortmund’s hot star Erling Haaland.
Knowing Guardiola so well, he tends to get rid of players when they start getting past their thirties, and with Agüero in this bracket, it makes it harder to imagine the striker still donning the Manchester City shirt in the Premier League next season. If Agüero does move to Barcelona, he will be forming a deadly partnership with his compatriot Lionel Messi if he remains at the club.
